Flavored
Coffee
If you love the taste of coffee but want an
extra punch to your money beverage consider a nice flavored cup of java.
The Arabs were the innovators in adding flavors to their coffee as
others in the Middle East soon followed. They added things such as
cinnamon, cardamom, clove, nutmeg, black pepper allspice, and even
ground up nuts to make their flavored coffee. After this came the
addition things such as fruit peels, liquors, and chocolate. Many
westerners added cream and sugar to flavored coffee once they were
introduced to them. The flavors that are in flavored coffee can be put
into the coffee while it is brewing or after it is poured into the cup.
Artificial ingredients are actually the foundation for most of the
flavors that are found in coffee today. When doing this the flavors are
added to the coffee bean after it has been roasted. It’s a
much more satisfying experience to drink a cup of coffee in which the
beans have been naturally flavored.
Those beans can be put into four categories. One category is the
vanilla based type of flavored coffee bean. This type produces flavors
such as French vanilla, Irish crème, and nut based flavors
such as hazelnut and macadamia nut. Another type is the chocolate
flavored bean which produces flavors such as chocolate mint and bitter
chocolate. The third type is the spice based coffee which makes
flavored coffee such as cinnamon and nutmeg. The fourth type is the
fruit based coffee bean which can make flavored coffee such as
raspberry and loganberry.
Some people prefer the idea of mixing several flavors together to find
the perfect blend for their taste buds. A few examples of these coffee
flavors are chocolate macadamia nut, chocolate raspberry, and cinnamon
orange.
Many specialty coffee stores and supermarkets carry a wide variety of
coffee. When going to a specialty coffee store or coffee shop you can
mix and match the beans which they generally sell by the pound and make
your own type of flavored coffee.
Just like the Arabs and Middle Eastern people did when coffee was a
specialty for their part of the world, you can make your own flavored
coffee using any type of flavoring you would like. This can be done, in
the simplest way, by adding whichever flavor you choose to the coffee
after it has been brewed. But you can also make flavored coffee by
adding the flavors while the coffee is brewing; either way
you’ll wind up with a creation that is all your
own.
